Foxford Girls Football Team
Foxford Vs Whitley Academy match
report by Miss Edwards
Wednesday, 30 January 2019
It was a 6 a side indoor home football match against Whitley Academy who turned up with grit
and determination. Our girls were ready for the fight. First half of the game the girls played
well, a little shy but held their own. Second half the girls fought hard. The defence was
incredible with Amelia as our main defender. Ellie lifted the spirits of the team, as we were
losing, with a beauty of a goal. Jess played upfront and had some shots on goal
and finally she hit the back of the net. Well done to all the girls who played.
Bring on the next game. Caitlin was awarded player of the match voted by Whitley.

Foxford Student Leadership Team
Over the past four weeks students in year ten had an opportunity to apply for the 2018/2019 year eleven student leadership programme where students apply for senior student leadership posts of responsibility in the school. These posts range from Head boy and girl, deputy and associate position.
Each student had to go through a rigorous interview process before being selected and this wasn’t easy. The interview panel consisted of the Head Teacher, myself and Mr. Singh ( Director of Learning for Year ten). It gave each candidate an opportunity to see first-hand how people are recruited into formal posts, something that is being further developed on enrichment day where employers are coming into Foxford to interview our year ten students.
From next academic year the year eleven student leadership team will be involved in a number of activities ranging from helping and supporting around the school and on the Foxford fun day and more importantly helping shape the future of Foxford.
In all that applied – well done you made us all proud.

Why are GCSEs in England changing?
We are committed to driving the highest standards in schools. That’s why we have revised our GCSE qualifications in England to make them more demanding. We have done this so our young people have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in 21st century Britain, and to match those of their peers in high-performing education systems elsewhere in the world.
The new, more challenging GCSEs will help young people develop the skills that employers tell us they need.
When are they changing?
From August 2017, the new qualifications will start to be awarded with number grades, rather than letters. The new grading scale runs from 9 to 1 instead of A* to G, with 9 the highest grade.
Not all GCSEs are changing at once – English language, English literature and maths are changing first, with students sitting these exams this summer. By 2020, all GCSEs in England will be reformed and graded using numbers instead of letters. However, most GCSEs taken by students at schools in Wales and Northern Ireland will continue to be graded A* to G.
To read more about these changes please click the following link:NewGCSES.campaign.gov.uk
