Foxford Library

The Library sits at the heart of the school site and endeavours to empower learners by actively engaging all of its users in a variety of innovative ways and by creating an environment that is conducive to learning. Promoting a love of literature and stimulating reading for pleasure underpin the main vision of the Library, as does the aim to give all of its users the opportunity and entitlement to become effective users of information in all formats.

Stock in the Library is, therefore, reviewed regularly and chosen to be both relevant to the curriculum and also to provide exciting fiction for leisure reading. Teachers and faculties are able to use the Library’s Learning Resource Room for research lessons and to teach literacy skills to students, allowing the Library to support learning, literacy and reading school wide and mould its aims to the current needs of the school community.

The Library is open all day and after school for homework purposes, with a variety of lunchtime activities taking place throughout the school week. Although the Library is used regularly for Private Study by the sixth form students, it is not a silent Library. The Library is rather a place of calm and learning, a fun and friendly environment which ultimately provides inspiration and encouragement to students.
